Project Description:

​Mulcahy Construction Ltd. recently completed the enabling works for a new primary care centre planned at St. Otteran’s Hospital, Co. Waterford.

Our Scope of Work included:

  • The relocation of existing services. One of the challenges that we faced was the electrical switch over from the existing plant room to the new plant room ensuring the hospital remained in full operation.

 

    • The demolition of the engine house building and associated buildings needed to be controlled in order to protect the listed chimney located directly in the centre of the buildings.

 

  • Remedial and structural works to the listed brick chimney which was over 100 years old. ​Works included, Removing existing steel bands and replacing with new fabricated steel bands, Cut out and replace defective pointing using NHL Lime, installation of a new lighting conductor, lead detail to the bottom of the chimney stack.

Delivery of the Project:

Mulcahy Construction Ltd. delivered this project to the Health Service Executive (HSE) safely, on time and on budget.
